Community Liaison Program

Diamond Creek strongly believes that it has a responsibility to promote and encourage females to participate in teams sports throughout the community, even though they may not play at Diamond Creek. The Community Liaison program will see DCWFC actively run coaching clinics with unaligned Junior Clubs in the local area. The aim of these clinics is to increase the football skills of junior players in the region and allow them to meet talented footballers.

Additionally DCWFC often have External Coaches running specific skills sessions at the Club. As part of being involved in the Community Liaison Program, DCWCF will invite Coaches from these Clubs to attend free of charge. These Coaching Sessions are funded via the Bendigo Community ® Bank Scholarship and DCWFC own resources.

DCWFC is the only State level all female club in northern Melbourne and wishes to be the destination club for girls with aspirations to play senior football and/or AFL.

This program is not aimed to poach junior players from their clubs.

Community Liaison Manager will contact the targeted clubs, discuss the program and if there is interest organise the clinics. Each club will be allocated a DCWFC squad, who will be managed by the senior players. The Community Liaison Manager will coordinate with each squad to ensure the dates are known in advance.

It’s proposed that there are two coaching clinics/season/club, possibly at the start of the season and another mid season. Ideally each coaching clinic is attended by two seniors and two juniors (under 18 or 16 level) to form one squad. The coaching clinics are designed for fun, but with well-structured drills. This will be managed by the seniors. Ideally as part of the session the senior players could discuss what it is like to play at AFL or State level.

The Media and Communications Manager would be part of the program to leverage stories for the website and Facebook and the media in general. This content would include videos, photos and written articles with permission of parents/coaches etc.

The clubs participating in the Community Liaison program are;

  • RMIT University
  • Northern Football League
  • St Marys Junior Football Club
  • Laurimar Football Club
  • Whittlesea Football Club
  • Eltham Junior Football Club
